G481 - Mechanics (Tension)

Hey everyone,

How do I work out tension. I asked my teacher and he said "it depends on what you're given"

Can someone please explain what the possible quantities can be given and how i would be able to work out tension from there..

Give the attachment named: "S14 M1 UK Model red v2.pdf" a look. Specifically question 1. As this is a maths paper it won't be that hard in the G481 exam but that is what a question about tension may be on, I don't think you would get asked to work out both parts as in the M1 paper, however you may be asked a similar question to one of the parts.
