Would I be mad to quit my apprenticeship to go to Uni?

I am 19.
Been on an electrical engineering apprenticeship since I was 16

Got another 17 months to go to finish my apprenticeship, I don't enjoy it, I want to go to uni to find myself, have fun, socialise and work out who I really am.

My life has become too much of a routine and I'm not even 20 yet, I'm fed up.

If I hang it out for another 17 months then I will end up with a HNC in Electrical Engineering, my company won't push me on to a degree or anything and there's not much progression. I'll end up on 40k P/Y by the time in about 27- but I want to leave my course, resign from my job and go to a university THIS year and do a foundation degree in telecommunications engineering at Essex Uni, already got an UnCond. Offer.

Would I be stupid to walk away from my apprenticeship before I'm qualified, even though I don't enjoy it and just want to go to uni to have fun, lose the boring mon-fro routine, enjoy myself and work out what I want from life?

Should I hang my apprenticeship out for another year and a half or call it quits and do what I want to do?

Personally, I would hold on until you qualify from your apprenticeship. You've come this far - why throw it all away now?

If you feel able to stick it out, I would try, though at the end of the day you have to do what makes you happy  nowadays, especially with the changing government, Uni places are pretty hard to get, and also you never know what's going to happen regards Uni tuition fees.. Why not draw up a list of pros and cons of staying on at the apprenticeship and then another for leaving it and uni and see which one looks better for you?
