Of mice and men is really easy to understand therefore I find it easier to analyse (I got an A in my CA) I used the York revision notes for OMAM Nd the cgp edition is really useful as its colourful Nd bright. To get the highest grades in lit u really need to give a personal response, just think the examiner will mark loads of similar ideas so make yours unique and engaging - it will stand out better which is always a good sign

As an English lit student at Uni I'd advise you write as many mind maps on topics about your texts as possible. Eg. Character, techniques, speech, diction ect.
You will be able to source a lot of help from Internet websites such as spark notes but don't wholly rely on these as they don't really go in depth. Use your own analysis to point towards a conclusion for each text in each section.
Good luck!

I did of mice and men, inspector calls and heroes for English lit last year I got an A
spark notes and cliff notes are sites which offer very thorough in depth analysis of each chapter, characters and themes of most books so of mice and men ect. That way you don't have to read them 😂 I used that for revision and the CGP books which are brilliant revision for any subject. Also on the wjec site it has exemplar answers for past questions including the unseen poetry section which I found difficult compared to the others. (if you're doing a different exam board they still might have exemplar answers) Message me if you have any other questions about lit if you want.
also try your hardest to get an A* in your controlled assessment I did and it really pulled my mark up. I completely screwed up my time management in the exam and ended up leaving an entire 20 mark question out. I was crying and everything but my overall grade was still an A. Thank god for low grade boundaries! I think it was because we got some awful questions so be prepared for anything and know the plot to the books forward, inside out and backwards.

If you can try and answer all the questions, I left a lot of marks because of poor time management. I might have done better had I managed my time better. So practice writing questions in the time limit.

Always start with Sparknotes/Wikipedia, then branch out from there. For each one you should be able to find a blog that someone's written. You can also try to read academic essays on each one to really get to grips with the texts (use GoogleScholar). When making revision notes, split your notes into the following categories: Setting, Characterisation, Narrative (Plot/Voice/Structure), Language (Speech/Imagery etc) also make contextual notes on the author/time the text was written

Wikipedia is extremely good for getting a general idea of an author or text. It's also good for contextual points. It shouldn't be used on its own, but if you're not sure where to begin then it's a good starting point. Before you can properly anaylse or comment on anything you need to have a good knowledge of the texts and authors. Wikipedia can certainly help you with this.
You can only revise properly once you you have a general understanding of each text.

Hey, sorry if you've already done the exam but last year I used a youtube channel called 'Dominic Salles' for Inspector Calls and Of Mice And Men, and I got an A* overall so he was definitely a huge help! He films his lessons so they are a not the best quality but they were a great help, Good luck!
