Chill!!!!!!!

At least it means you get trinity term to relax (and in ur 2nd year too!!!!). Am so incredibly jealous since I have exams in every TT I'm in Oxford...and they're always 7th/8th week so when I do my finals everyone will have finished and buggered off home! :frown:
Wait until you have to deal with the joys of constitutional law (unless you've touched that already).

I've been without work (well, running for interviews but thats it) for a week and a bit now and i've only touched thirty or so pages. Add to that the fact that as soon as I get back i know for a fact that my parents will have me working eight hour shifts most days, if i want them or not. I'm screwed.

You can take the student out of Oxford, but you can't take the Oxford out of the student...

You're scared about Roman? ROMAN!!?!?!!!?!
Reply 4
I thought you guys didn't have to do Roman anymore...
Don't worry, I know it's scary now but you guys WILL be ok- I think the hardest thing about Mods is that you just don't think you're ready yet- you've only done one set of collections etc etc. The strange thing is that people do get through it and get good grades. Your tutors picked you because they thoiught you would make it, so trust them!

Haha.

I am having problems largely because I haven't done enough work. My case notes consist of the case name with the ratio next to it (0 facts).

Constit is evil because of the vast quantity of work. But when I look at the past paper questions I think "Oh I get that! I don't know all the cases I need to back it up".

When I look at Roman questions, I think "I don't have any idea how to answer that and there is no way in hell I can remember two sets of very detailed rules (classical/post-classical)".

Eek.

Oh, ditto. Lovely stuff.

Argh, I thought revision would be tolerable due to having done the topics - but now instead of reading with answering the essay in mind, everything seems to be important - gah... with the result that notes are currently just a slightly shorter version of the textbook/journals... joy.

@Embers: Hmm... you're not Emilykate by any chance are you?

I have no notes, that is my problem!! And yes, I am Emilykate, who are you?!

I can't answer the question, but I need the vent more.

EU law - what the ****? Still don't understand Mangold, a month later.

Yeah, it's constit. Shoot me.
How about this for a moan on Roman Law-

WHY DOES THERE HAVE TO BE SO MUCH ****ING LATIN????

I hope after eight weeks of working in it i'll have picked it up, but at the moment i'm reading through the introductory book and its stipulato this and in rem that... the description of each specific remedy is all very understandable (well, sort of), but each time i do one it seems as though I am supposed to have memorised the phrase that refers to it, by heart as i have absolutly no idea what they mean linguistically... Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh!

Advice: DON'T read Zimmermann if you want an easy time of it. I think it's Zimmermann, anyway. Huge paragraphs of Latin, without translation.

OK, my Mods were weds, thurs and fri of 9th when I did them (3 years ago... I feel old just thinking of it).

What I do remember is that the latin is difficult to deal with at first but when you think about it you probably didn't really know what 'the rule of law' meant in September so it's just the same as that.

I don't think I've ever read Zimmerman as I don't really remember doing much work or indeed knowing anything about Roman law, but I'm studying in his home Uni this year so I've heard quite a lot about him and he's meant to be one of the most knowledgeable people around on Roman law- I think oxford wanted him a couple of years ago but he turned them down. He's probably worth reading on that basis, but that doesn't mean he's understandable...

Oh, and Embers, you're at SEH so I can safely say that your opinion on Constit probably has more to do with your tutor and has rambling ways than the acyual subject (though Bradley and Ewing probably doesn't help...) Do you guys still get Mr Hackney for Roman? He's an experience...
