practicals are a joke

ey daz give us a hand will ya

Estimate the internal energy of the air in a room of volume 24m cubed at a temperature of 20 oC. Assume that the air behaves as an ideal gal at atmospheric pressure. Here are some useful formulae and fata. There are several ways to make this estimate and you do not have to use all the information

Pv = NRT
KE of n moles of an ideal gas = 3/2 nRT

data R = 8.31 JMOL k-1
density of air = 1.3 kgm-3
molar mass of air 0.030 kgmol
atmos pressure 1 x 10^5

lol lemme get my pen, paper and calculator - damn this song is good - metallica - nothing else matters

oooooooooooook

ook you can combine the ideal gas equation Pv= nRT and U = 3/2nRT to give U = 3/2pV

= 3/2 x 1.0 x 10^5 x 24 = 3.6 x 10^6 / 3.6 Megajooules

ORRRRRRR you could use Pv = nRT to find n gives n = 986 then with U which equals 3.7 x 10^6 ( 3.7 MJ )

LOL i feel so sorry for the people that are doing practical exams!!!!! so instantaneous and pressurising!!!!! i've never done a practical exam before and coursework is soooo much better and you can get such a better mark in it( although it requires a LOT more work )

I totally agree. I would be so scared doing a practical exam!

The exams are actually okay, less work than a coursework, all you need is to be trained all year by doing practical in class. Then again, they tend to be very pedantic with the marking, so

I think coursework is preferrable to a practical exam, but I also think that a written exam is preferrable to coursework!

I did bio and chem at sixth form where we did coursework. I didn't get the grades i wanted so i moved to a new college with a different exam board and started again. In my opinion i find the practical exams less stressful. I am the kind of lazy person that left with 6 weeks to do coursework, will do the experiment straightaway and then spend forever writing it up. At least for planning once its done its done.

I also prefer written papers to either choice though! Just my opinion though.

I prefer coursework; I did coursework for chemistry and praticals for biology and physics. I guess with coursework, there's less pressure than pratical exams.

Although, I can see salmiak is coming from - If we'd actually done some more pratical/evaluating work during the year, I probably would have found the pratical easier.

I seem to work better under pressure, maybe thats why practicals work for me!
