Romania...sadly :frown:. I'm glad to know someone too but I have no idea how will we recognise each other :o: maybe we should think of a place to meet it would be really helpful to be able to talk to somebody instead of spending my time panicking .

Sounds good  Maybe we should pick a place when we know the place though  And you'll be able to recognize me as the relatively short guy with short curly hair which you could use as a scrub brush :p:

Cum te numeşti?

There are 2 Romanian/Hungarian guys who work outside my house and my neighbors are Romanian so I know tiiiiny little bits of Romanian and Hungarian. And I honestly can't believe I didn't think of what we will wear as an identifier... I'll be the guy either wearing a blue sweater thing if I go for smart casual, or a silver tie if I go for suit... not sure which to go for to be honest. Pretty name BTW, certainly one I've never heard before.

Woops mine's on the 8th (lol I'm really proving myself as Cambridge worthy right now).

Gosh so terrified. Could you reccommend any good essays on Shakespeare's sonnets?
I usually stick to more modern stuff, or Victorian. Better do some googling lol. And read everything and anything.
Gah why did I ever mentioned my interest/love of Latin literature?! It's true, but they'll expect me to have read the Illiad, the Odyssey and god knows what else. I have but only a bit and not critically :frown:.

I need to calm down lol.

Hey, sorry for the very late reply! How are you getting on? Sonnets-wise, I've just gone over it a bit with my teacher, but I think they'll be focusing more on our analysis whilst we're there rather than what we've learnt (I hope!). What have you done? Do you think we'll be able to take annotated poems in to the class? Also, do you know anyting about this test?
Don't worry, they'll be more interested in your passion not about how many scores of books you've read, that's what I hear anyway  Good luck with it!

No probs
I'm doing okay lol - my teachers were like errrrmm sorry too busy you'll be fine :s-smilie: so I haven't gone over the sonnets with them. I've read through them all and will have a look for some critical anaylsis later. I think they'll definitely care more about what we think than ideas we may have read about, but it can't hurt to see what other critics say and that will probs be expected. Also I need to revise iambic pentameter and sonnet form lol.... that's happening today.
And the test should be fine - it's a poetry comparison as far as I'm aware like this - http://www.sel.cam.ac.uk/prospectus/home/index.php?p=42 I think that's bit I feel most confident on right now...
I'm so glad there's only one interview, and on the discussion from the first session - means you get to think about it more and really show you know your stuff in a reasonably fair situation.
Good luck

EDIT: Oh yeah I meant to say, since you're on the 7th could you pop back here after and just say a bit about what it was like? Nothing you don't feel comfortable with as in questions or anything (I am competition ehehe) but just like atmosphere/standard e.t.c. Thanks!

TypeNameHere, I'll do some research when I'm more awake and I'll try give you an answer

Random question... does who you have your interview with make much difference? As in, which fellows and whether or not they're director of studies?

Reply 392

I doubt it... I've just done a bit of background research on mine... and now I'm scared of them both! They're really experts and I'm really not!

Anyone going up tomorrow for their interview on Monday? I'm doing MML.

Sorry I'm terrified - just found a misplaced semi-colon in my personal statement lol.
