Not wanting to leave school?

I love school... I feel so safe and happy here!
I'm so scared about leaving. I'm going to miss it soooo much!
I'm going to miss not seeing the same faces everyday and not being in that same environment.

I am excited about going to uni but at the same time I feel like I really just don't want to leave school.

Does anyone else feel like this or did anyone feel like this when they left?

I'm happy to get out of the atmosphere and away from a lot of people, but at the same time there are departments and people there that I'm really gonna miss (and I mean, REALLY).

I'm really scared that we're not gonna see each other so much and lose contact.

Same lol. I miss it sometimes now but then I don't when I think of all them still there in my year that have to get up early when I can just lie in bed . or when I only have college before lunch and get to spend the rest of the day doing what I want n they're stuck in school. Brilliant.

exactly, plus at College you are doing a course more towards what you want to do and not doing crappy subjects at school. Least at college as well you are treated more like a grown up.

Yup, definitely. I didn't much like my school and it wasn't all that great but it I'd been there for 7 years and I didn't really know life without it. The people in particular I was worried I would never see again. I've kept in touch with my close friends though, it's not as impossible as you might think. I've had re-union's since (I left nearly 2 and half years ago) and it's strange. It's like I've been gone forever, but never been gone at all. Certainly the friendships, it's as if we last saw each other yesterday... very bizarre!

Enough of my reminiscing... it's only natural to miss it a bit. You're certainly not alone!

What does social life have to do with it. Irrespective of time outside school you'll still (in theory at least) spend a good proportion of your time there. It's only natural to become attached to the place and it's the only way that you meet certain people. It's the same thing as liking uni. I love uni, it's great... I fail to see the problem in this.

Oxford, but I don't see how that is particularly relevant as to whether or not I enjoy university.

I was in the same school for 13 years (very small, less than 400 students and it covered all grades). Was glad to leave it. What I miss of my school are a few of the teachers. Had less responsibilities then. Now, though I'm not in uni but on gap year, I have more responsibilities at home.. It's not a bad thing, we all grow up.

So generally, I don't miss school. Had a few very good friends but most of them left the country (expats) so it doesn't matter really that I'm not in school anymore.

Everything in life's an experience. We have to move forward in order to obtain more experiences, in my opinion. So enjoy what you have now and if you don't want to miss you past, think about the bad times in it! Then you'll forward to the future

I know what the OP means. On the one hand I'd be glad to leave school next year and onto university; it will be another forward step of my life. But I know I will miss school terribly - I would've been there for 7 years by the time I leave, and like F1 fanatic I can't really imagine life without it. And I don't think it's to do with specific people, teachers, lessons as such - I think it's the whole idea of being 'at school' that I will miss. The feeling of being sheltered; being in organised education; having a clear sight of where you are going, etc. All the extra-curricular good memories, all the funny times in lessons, the not so happy times during exams. Now that I'm in Year 12 and close to leaving the school, when I see younger pupils I always reminisce about the times when I was that age, and sometimes wishing I was that young again. On the whole I've been happy during my time at school and I will always miss that.

I know what you mean, I'm going to miss a few teachers who are the most amazing I've ever had, I even felt like staying on for another year but that would of been lame being in year 14 lol. I'm scared as well as I'm not childish but I have alot of learning to do with money and other things. I'm looking forward to uni but I will miss the school as well as I have put alot into it. I'm chair of are council and I'm hoping the year below will look after all the things put in place and I hope I do keep in touch with a few of my friends. On the plus side I am saying good bye to those teachers who i really really dislike and I am saying bye to all the dogs in my year!! waaaaayyy!

I really miss school as well. I'm in my first year at uni at the moment, but I had to pop back yesterday to collect a couple of awards and my A-level certificates and it felt so weird! I was there for 7 years, and even though there were some things I definitely won't miss, like the boring lessons and assemblies, the horrible/rubbish teachers and all the bullying in the lower years, I was generally very happy there. I miss my friends, the lovely/excellent teachers, the great times we used to have in some lessons and the general school community. I'm enjoying uni as well though, and I'm still in touch with most of my friends.

Intimatity? Yeah, that's a word  Anyway, in answer to your question, school is where you spend most of your time up to the age of 16 or 18 and a large part of it for most people is the social life involved in it- being with friends in lessons, at break and lunch times and for extra-curriculars.
