What are my chances of getting into KCL for LLB Law?

First of all I am SOOOO sorry to everyone in this forum as I know these posts are a bit of a pain in the arse - they even annoy me! But from my browsing of here and various other students sites (as well as KCL's official site), I have gotten mixed opinions about their views on GCSE grades so I am asking you lot: what do you think my chances are of getting into Kings for LLB Law?

GCSEs: BBCCCCDD with a Pass/CCCC in GNVQ ICT.

Crap. I know. I've had two years off between then and now where I am taking my AS levels in: English Lit, Politics, Psychology and Business Studies (aiming for and working towards all A's). Then will carry on English Lit, Politics and Psychology to A2 (and perhaps pick up another AS in my second year as well) and will obv aim for AAA or AAB.

Honestly, I don't have much extra-curricular activity to note but I am going to work on that in the next year by hopefully getting a part-time job, completing my Level 1 certificate in British Sign Language and would love to arrange some kind of legal or political work experience for next summer! May try to arrange some volunteer work too.

I'm pretty sure I will get a good reference from my teachers as I get on quite well with them and I think I'm a fairly good student.

Yeah, so that's all I can really think to say about it... so, what do you think my chances are?

Feel free to say: "You are joking, you'll never get in"... you will shatter my dreams, but go for it. :P

I can't really predict how I'll do on that... can I?

The LNAT could be your saviour. Thats my honest gut response. A brilliant LNAT score could put you in with a chance; an average LNAT score along with those grades, and IMO the odds are not in your favour. But as long as you meet their standard offer (AAA next year I think) then its certainly worth a shot applying.

Thanks. That's kind of what I was thinking too.
You've got nothing to lose

A dignified person would not let fear of rejection get in the way of having a go.
most of the law students i know are absolute idiots.

doesn't seem a particularly hard course to get in to.

well I already said somewhere that I would kill myself if I didn't get an offer from a reputable law school...

Your studying film studies or some bizarre like that areant you?!

At KCL, Law, medicine & dentistry are the most competitive courses to get admitted to, IMO. Law students might seem like idiots (mainly because they tend to be so hyper and always up to something, but you will find almost all law students at any uni are going to be like that), but when it comes to studying, if you ever bother popping into Maughan library you`ll find its always full of law students.

You have nothing to lose at all. Law is a VERY competitive subject, especially at KCL but if you do really well on the LNAT it will definately boost your chances.

Saj, he is doing maths..... Considering the competitive nature of the law course, you will find that the law school likes to choose quirky applicants as they have an average of I think 5 applicants per plaice offering aaa. I was under the impression that the law school delibretly chooses applicants who have something more to offer than simply academic excellence, which is why there tend to be a large number of eccentrics doing law. IMO, the thread starter should be in with a chance if she makes the AAA mark, does well (not sure what the scores where last year, but based on our own year 18+) on her Lnat, and can demonstrate on her personal statement that she can think for herself, and is unique.

I completely agree. My college reference from my form tutor summed me up as an extremely arrogant arsehole who was a complete pain in the backside...yet I still got an offer.

Last year when we applied they had 17 applicants per place. 2/3 of which had atleast AAA predictions. Jack evidently you dont study maths :p:
Yeah around exam times the Law students invade the science area of the library. :frown:
