Would up a dress size if you put on 12 pounds?

Well I went to the doctors today for a check up, she took my blood pressure and told me it’s a little higher than normal. She then weighted me, and said I’ve put on some weight since my last visit, and this accounted for my increase in the blood pressure. When I asked how much way, she told me I’ve put on 12 pounds!! Would a gain of 12 pounds make you go up a dress size? I hope (and don’t) think I’ve put on 12 pounds! I’ve mean I have put on some weight, but I think I would notice if I’ve put on a whole 12 pounds!! What do you all think? Sorry for this pointless thread I just needed to rant a little over this incident! :frown:

If your clothes still fit you're fine.

that's the thing, they fit fine. in fact they fit better than normal which is odd considering this '12 pound' I've put on. odd

Well I lost 12lbs and dropped a dress size, so yeah. Quite possibly.

But surely you'd know if you'd gone up a dress size? I.e. not fitting into old clothes, new clothes being a size bigger etc...

Ahh that may be it. I have been going to the gym for a while now. hope that's it anyway!

If it was 12 lbs of muscle, I don't see why your blood pressure would be higher due to gain...

i guess it depends on your height as well; i've put on just over a stone since summer and still fit into the same size just fine, most people (including my bf, who sees me naked all the time) can't tell i've put on weight, but i'm 5"8 so it's spread across quite a lot of body lol

yeah - it would be the gym then  don't worry about it!
blood pressure increasing wuld also have something to do with the gym too - it will go back to being regular, i think its just coz you have suddenly begun going to the gym, so your body is just temporarily reacting ---- soon it will get used to it and go back to normal!

Well I've dropped two dress sizes and only lost about 5lb, have just been going to the gym and doing a lot of weights...So that could be it.

I've put on half a stone and everyone's saying how much weight i've lost! i found that really crazy! I'm only 5'2 and am currently 9 and a half stone, so i'd have thought i'd have gone up a dress size if i'd put on half a stone, but apparently not!

Same here. Same height and weight as you and no one seems to notice when I go up or down in weight. I can change by a stone and barely move a dress size.
