Do u think Taking maths at uni is a good idea?Watch
If you can back up a Maths degree with some form of application to it, ie Accountancy, Financial Management etc you will surely have a chance of doing well with it.
The sort of fields of work that can use Maths, at the very top end are very well paid.
In seriousness, I think Maths is a great degree. When I was thinking about picking a degree a year ago, I had three options in mind: Maths, Economics or Computer Science because I love all three. I said no to Maths because I was stupid enough not to pick F.Maths at A-level and thought the catching up wouldn't be worth it. Economics there were other reasons, so I ended up picking Computer Science.
When you want to pick a degree the most important thing is that you enjoy it and the second thing is that the pay and future career prospects are good. Maths is both enjoyable and can lead to a good future and that's all that needs to be said.
And Phil, even though you didn't ask me, try checking the Guadian website's league tables for an idea of quality as well as UCAS.com for entry requirements and the like. Of course the best way of finding out is visiting the universities yourself because you need to like the place as well as be able to get a decent education out of it.
I would just like to end this post by saying SUCK IT.
