Pre Cambridge reading

I am looking at studying history at Cambridge....any books you'd especially recommend I read pre-interview ......history or otherwise

I know you are asking for things that will prepare you for Cambridge, not general recommendations, however I think I might have a suggestion that could qualify as both. If you are interested in (late) Stuart history try 'Debates in Stuart History' by Ronald Hutton. It's really pleasurable to read, and it gives really interesting insight into the way that an academic historian works.
