IBM Apprenticeship 2015

Hi there,

I applied for an IBM apprenticeship for September start and passed the assessment centre and am
now through to the 'Matching Process'. It has been about 6 weeks now and still heard nothing, just wondered if anyone else is in the matching process or anyone has experience of it?

Thanks,
Tom :smile:

Hi,
the advanced Apprenticeship requires UCAS points I think!

Nothing at all!

What course did you apply for and when/where was your assessment centre?

I applied for "Technical Solution Specialist" and the assessment centre was IBM Hursley which was about 4 weeks ago, which course did you apply for? I was hoping to get the interview within 2-3 weeks but I don't think there is even a small chance of that happening base on what you said earlier :frown:

I was at Hursley too, it was March 27th so maybe not quite 6 weeks.
It's really nerve wracking having to wait all this time
Tom
Did you apply for the same course?

It does take a while unfortunately as ibm would need the clients before they could offer you a job so it can take a while but hold on. I'm sure you'll be fine ! Good luck

Hey I was on the same assessment day too! Still haven't got a reply though, any ideas or suggestions as to what to do? Has anyone else got anything back yet?
I contacted IBM few days ago because I was starting to get worried about my application and here is the general part of the email which I think they send to everyone if anyone ask question

=============
The 'matching' process, follows if you are successful at Assessment Centre (AC). Your CV, AC Feedback and Role/Base Location Preferences are added onto a central database within IBM, which all of our Hiring Managers (with roles all over the UK) have access to. On the database, they will review applicants details for suitability to their role(s). As soon as we hear from a manager that they would like to Interview or Offer a candidate, we will be in touch. As a result of this process, we cannot specify a timescale on this, as it differs for each candidate on a case-by-case basis but we do fully appreciate your patience throughout.

Please note, completing the Assessment Centre is not a guarantee that we have a suitable position available for you nor it is a guarantee the business will wish to proceed with your application. Additionally, it is NOT a guarantee that we will offer you a position unless you successfully complete a Business Interview. Please note, you need to take this final stage in the process seriously, by preparing for subsequent Interviews.
=============

Basically there is a chance that some applicants might not even get an interview at all or even better it is not a guarantee that IBM have a suitable position available(!) which is quite strange in my opinion, a huge company like IBM spend money to get applicants to come to the Assessment Centre when they might not even have a job for them.

Hey Guys.

I also applied for the IBM apprenticeship like yourself and was in your situation a little while back.

I attended the assessment center and was successful so therefore I was put in the matching process. It wasn't till 2/3 months after they contacted me with an offer for the placement in London. No interviews were required.

I just suggest that you all just have patience and wait. It does usually take a long time for them to match you with your preferences.

That's awesome to hear! Did you do a business interview at the assessment centre or anything?!

Nope, did no business interview. Just the assessment center and then offered a job a few months after

It really depends on the preferences that you've put down. Like IBM said it's not a guaranteed offer after the assessment center.
When do you think they will start their applications again?
