Write a poem on absolutely anything. Make it the best you can in 3 minutes - no cheating! Here's mine, about the definition of reading because it took me just under 3 minutes yours will be way better than mine

Reading is the sound of crisp pages
Read by hundreds as curious as yourself
Reading is the world you are transported to
Where this world cannot exist
Because reading is the loss of desire
Of this materialistic world
That just begs for more
When picking up a book
Is all you need to gain the knowledge
Of a thousand men wanting more

Reading is a portal
Fact or fiction
The jurisdiction of a world
Created by the mind
Guided by the hand
The heart has a place as the feelings
They pour undue
Insight into the realms of time
As time comes repeated
Repeated until anew

Don't laugh. I already did that. Yours is very good though! x

The hills whisper to go home
A man paces below the sun
As he looks on at a road travelled by
And all the memories sown,
Of lovers lost; and life as one
Skin gnarled bark; life overblown,
Gazing fondly to that on high
To stars where light once shone
Like a woman's eyes
and he would with vigour be
not quite so alone

Exam revision
Is giving me a better vision
The vision that life will always be so blue
But I just have to get through

Books, books, books everywhere
All day in a chair
I need some air
It is just so hard to bare
Why is life so unfair?
But I just have to grow a pair
Otherwise I won't get anywhere

(This took me 5 minutes )

Monkey see, monkey do;
Human laughs, monkey too;
To lie with the leaves
and swing through the trees
Is symptomatic of man's needs
When you feel as though Life's a rumble
I'll Welcome you to the jungle
For roses are red, violets are blue;
I'm a monkey and so are you

In the end of time
There was a man who knew the road
And the writing, was written on stone

In the ancient time
An artist led the way
But no one, seemed to understand

In his heart he knew
The artist must be true
But the legend, of the rent was way past due

Well you think you'll be just fine...without me, but your mine!
You think you can, kick me out of the band

Well there's just one problem there
The band is mine
How can you kick me out...of what is mine

You’re not hardcore
Unless you live hardcore

Well you’re not hardcore
(No you’re not hardcore)
Unless you live hardcore
(Unless you live hardcore)
But the legend of the rent was way hardcore

Renoir
Your beard was white
And pointy
All day you sat in orchards
Painting painting
Voluptuous models
With huge dangling bazookas
What a life
And your son Jean
He chose the path of film
And married one of your models
I think you were an impressionist
Or something like that
I get you mixed up with Monet and Manet
And that other one
Anyway it must have been fun
To have lots of disrobed cutées
Swanning around all day
Chapeau !

Glory to the brave people that threw off the yoke,
Disrespecting the law, virtue and honour,
Rampaging through the streets,
The Devil's own in mob form.
Unworthy of the word liberty,
They come and go, they loot and burn,
Such impudent scenes,
Cause you to question the sanctity of life.

I love that lavender blonde
The way she moves, the way she walks
I touch myself, can't get enough
And in the silence of the night
Through all the tears and all the lies,
I touch myself and it's all right

Just give in
Don't give up baby
Open up your heart and your mind to me
Just know when
That glass is empty, that the world is gonna bend

Happy in the club with a bottle of red wine
Stars in our eyes 'cause we're having a good time
so happy I could die
Be your best friend yeah I love you forever,
Up in the clouds we're both higher than ever
so happy I could die
And it's all right

Transient sound
I'm in Ambient Town
I'm panicking now;
I'm the manic you found
This thread is astounding
but my head is pounding
I'm dead where you found me
in bed but I'm drowning
I'm hungover
When will I get sober?
No luck with this clover
I'm through; supernova

That really did take me 3 mins (maybe 5...) lol
I think everyone else with the long poems is lying :unimpressed:

wimbledon
each year is similar
and yet different
we cheer the English underdog
who snatches defeat from the jaws of victory
we gasp at amazing men
with difficult names
and efficient grunting blondes
from the USSR or somewhere

I tried to write something happy but

Spoiler:
Show
The day breaks
Over the broken homes and the broken hearts of the broken people
Immune to their suffering
The sun beams on their sorrow and
Their heartbreak
Drying their tears
The horror of the night before
Insignificant to the majestical fire in the sky
The sun will still rise
It will still set
Their tears will continue to fall
And will continue to dry
Mourning does not cease
The wounds do not close
Their homes still in ruins
Their loved ones still in pieces
The sun beams down on their sorrow and their heart break
The world does not come to a halt
So insignificant
Are the pains
And injustices faced by man,
Caused by man
After All, a pale blue dot
Is all we are

Another weekend evening glow,
Where do the days, weeks, and months go?
Happily I sip my drink,
Broaching on the new week's brink.
Bring me whiskey,
Bring me wine,
Bring me all the goddamn time.
Give me youth,
Give me death,
Give me yet another breath,
Wasting away self enclosed,
Why bother,
Who even knows?
