The Student Room Group

Health, disabled students

Hi everyone,
I am 5 years post transplant and will need medication for the rest of my life. Does anyone know if there is any funding to help with prescription costs or whether I would qualify for DSA?

DSA won't pay for prescriptions. DSA pays for study related costs you have as a disabled student. If you're on a low income, you can fill in a HC1 form, which can you get from the chemist and job centre. If you're given a HC2 certificate, this entitles you to free prescriptions. Have you checked with your GP if you're entitled to free prescriptions due to medical condition?

If none of the above apply and you require at least 13 prescriptions per year, you can buy a pre payment card for prescriptions. This is £104 per year / 10 payments of £10.40 per month.
