whens the deadline to apply for student finance??

and also what are the usual loans that students take out? whats the maintanance loan and maintanance grant?

There isn't a deadline as such (you could apply midway through the year and still be entitled to the money), but it is recommended to apply as soon as possible if you need the money before the start of term. It takes several weeks to process each application, and this process may be further delayed if they need any additional information from you. All students are eligible for a loan (needs to be repaid once you start earning), unless they've already studied at university (I'm assuming this doesn't apply to you). Grants do not need to be repaid but only students from low income backgrounds are eligible for one.
