I found I saw better. Just because there's no like, escaping the lens if you see. With glasses you can look round the edge and be blurry, but lens covers the whole eye so you can see well all the time. Yay for that

If you have very bad vision you may not be able to get full correction for certain kinds of lenses, but otherwise it's no different.

What if say, you really need glasses for driving or watching TV but if you wear them while reading or on the comp they hurt your eyes... can you still get contacts?

Reply 4

If your glasses make your eyes hurt if worn for too long, contacts will likely do the same. If you only need glasses for driving\watching telly it's perhaps not worth getting contacts at all.

Reply 5

I see very slightly worse with my contacts because they don't fully correct my astigmatism. But it's not enough to notice really, the only time I do is when I switch from contacts to glasses and notice everything is ever so slightly sharper.

i was told that contact lenses prescriptions are lower than the glasses prescription because they're closer to your eyes. my contact lens prescription is 0.5 less than my glasses :s-smilie:

Mine's the same! I get headaches with my glasses, they feel too strong yet are the same as my contacts!

Reply 8

Yeah, they usually prescribe them a little less than your glasses, as it can be a bit disorientating and give you headaches if they're too strong.

I lovvve my contacts. Not only do I look awful in glasses, but I am quite literally blind without glasses and not having that fuzzy bit where the glasses don't cover is now something I find it really hard to go back to when I'm in contacts most days.

Most people can get contacts these days actually, if you have a strong astigmatism then you can't but I have a mild one (yep, mild astigmatism on TOP of -5.25 vision - I am actually screwed :s-smilie:) and contacts are no problem for me

my glasses are -1.5 but my contacts are -1.75 - and I agree with fleece about seeing better with them in than glasses. They're fantastic, it's like being able to see normally again especially as you can't feel them

If you do have astigmatism, then you can have toric contact lenses that do correct it. They used to be only available in monthly lenses, but I think now you can get them in dailies too, but they're more expensive...I think.

My contact prescription is -3.75 and -3.5, my glasses are -3.5 and -3.25, and I only have mild astigmatism in one eye, so I have one toric lens and one normal one! Complicated

Hmmm toric ones are more expensive aren't they?

My glasses are -4.00 in each eye... so are my contacts! My contacts aren't perfect though and neither were they last summer before I had them upped from -3.75. So ah well!
