You might not be the only one... I have a conditional offer for Environmental Biology. Haven't decided for sure if I'll choose UCL, but it's a good possibility...

You won't be the only one, as I have accepted an unconditional offer for UCL BSc Physics. I'm 21 though, so I don't know if I am that mature. See you in September!

I'm 21 as well
I'm, ooh, 60% sure I'm going to have UCL as firm, to do Physics at the grande olde age of 23

What date was your interview?

Me? 13th March.
I already had an offer from them, just hadn't made a final decision when I posted the earlier message. I've chosen UCL as firm since, though.

ye i'll be doing BSc biology at UCL 07'. can't wait really looking forward to it. i'm 32 and will be 33 just after we start. i wonder if i'll be the oldest#beard# there??? i'm not too worried, young at heart that's what matters.
received an offer about three weeks ago.

There always seems to be a few mature students about but it is quite hard to tell if they are graduate students or not. I know there's a few in my year. I could have sworn I remember seeing a man in my lecture who looked like he was ready to pop his clogs but then again, it seems as if any old joe bloggs can walk into the Darwin Lecture theatre.

I got an easy conditional offer for BA History. So, hyped up by that, I'm looking ahead to September '07!

Any matures around?

lucky you! i ended up getting a ridiclously high offer from city. one which my lecturer seemed a rather bewilderd by before mocking them for thinking they were better than liverpool/manchester unis for asking for the equivilant of AAA (or as close as you can get on an access course) lpool/manc as for 65% and 70% respectively btw.. kinda makes me regret choosing london unis which arent familiar with the system. GRR!! lol. but whatever its a means to an end. so what type of history are you interested in? not too long til september now you must be getting pretty excited?

intellectual history/history of ideas! you?
Reply 12
ye standard business studies. aside from optometry, nursing and law i dont think city actually does that much at undergrad level. such a tiny uni. no idea what im going to specialise in. am feeling so much happier today as i finally got the last of my stats exams outta the way. finally!! so what is intellectual history? sounds like it can cover quite a wide spectrum of things.. is it mostly academic ideas or does it cover social history and ideas aswell?

Hi guys,
Realise I'm warming up an old thread here and not sure you will even read this, but I'm applying as a mature student for UCL to start in Sept '08.
Just wondered, how's it going now you're there? What's UCL like? And how is it being a mature student there?

Are there are any other mature students applying to UCL for next year entry?

Full of kids mate, although you will notice the difference less if you're under 25.
Reply 15
Hmm. I will have hit 25 by next autumn. Guess I'll just have to be the resident OAP. Nah, I reckon that shouldn't be too much of a problem.

What's the place like? Are you living in halls/residences? Is it a bit painful living with 18 year-olds, or do they manage to match us older ones up and put us together?
Reply 16
Depends, club-tastic ones are frustrating, others into their work are ok. Depends where you are. Some halls are quieter than others. I don't think they try and match you up unless you expressly ask for it.

Fair play. I guess that's always gonna be the case.

I've had a browse through the accommodation booklet. It all looks fairly spread out, although considering it is London, none are too far from UCL itself. How easy is it to influence what kind of accommodation you get allocated? The form doesn't really seem to allow for narrowing it down much.
Reply 18
Well if you put down in your preference "a fridge in own room" you are likely to be allocated to Astor college as it is the only one with such a facility. Not particularly 'mature' though
Reply 19
Aha ok, that's useful to know though! I noticed that the you can only tick one preference option on the form, so was wondering how they all influenced it... I guess I'm not actually that bothered, guess in any ideal world I'd prefer a smaller people:kitchen ratio in self-catering.
