As exams are slowly beginning I thought it would be a good idea to have a thread full of last minute exam advice. Current and ex Yr 11s are welcomed to post any advice for exams, subject specific or general, that will help pick up them little marks here and there.

I'll start off with a little mnemonic for Chemistry electrolysis: OIL RIG

Oxidation
Is
Loss of electrons

Reduction
Is
Gain of electrons

*Might be helpful to sticky this thread if it gets a lot of responses.

To stick with the chemistry mnemonic theme, always remember to Bend a Mexican for bond enthalpies:
Breaking = endothermic, making = exothermic

This always used to torment me last year.

Core Science

Memorizing the categories

K P CRISPS OR FLAME GRILLED STEAK

Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species

Another tip - Say when memorising the colour of flame tests or resazurin or anything, try and sing it towards a theme tune and it will stick. I assure you. Personally the theme tune to Casualty is my favorite one because it is so dramatic.

If you don't know the electromagnetic spectrum song then you're not doing a legitimate physics course..

For Endothermic and Exothermic I remember it as EN for entrance/heat taken in and EX for exit/heat loss.

Not particularly useful after GCSE, but I still find myself singing it, usually whilst making microwave popcorn
