Developing Skills And Preparing For University? Help!

Hi, so quickly a little context about me, I am 21 years old and have been out of education for about 2 years, just GCSE c's and 1 b. I haven't been motivated enough (even though I really had the desire) to complete any course I started (and many did I start).

Now, finally realized I enjoy studying law (did it in college for few months) and hoping to go to birm met college for access course in law and crim. But in 2016 sep. I have to get Distinctions on all modules to get into (my desired unis) Warwick, Leicester. I realize this will be extremely hard to say the least.

I have 1 year to prepare (which I purposely gave my self) what would you do to prepare and up your skills so you have the best chance to get Distinction in law. Be as detailed as you can.

Thank you very much, any advice appreciated!

Hey dude,

So I'm in a similar position. I've got a few months left of my current education though then as I got all C's and a B i'll need to go back to college to get into uni to study Law.

I've had a look around for myself. Tips which i'm taking on board for myself and hopefully, a few other people can comment to help you. Is read a few books, these two i've heard are very good for uni: The Law Machine(http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Law-Machine-Marcel-Berlins/dp/0140287566) and Understand Law (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Understanding-Law-John-N-Adams/dp/0421960604).

Go to a few free lectures, I usually keep my eyes on meetup (http://www.meetup.com/) and eventbrite (https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/) for any popping up.

If you have a year to prepare you could also do an open college Law course. That's what I was thinking. It's estimated at being 80 hours long so should easily be completed in a year while giving you a better feel for a Law course and you also, get another qualification out of it.

As I said, I'll be in the same situation and doing the exact same as you in a few months time. Best of luck! Never know, I may see you in uni at some point

Oh k, thanks for the links, the law machine seems like a useful book pre-law school so thanks for that.

Why are you doing a levels again, why not access course? Takes a year and it gets you ready for uni; essay practise, personal statement etc.
