Current Deloitte Trainees!!

Hello Folks!

Will be starting at Deloitte next year and was wondering if you guys could answer a few queries.. much appreciated!

1) What happens in the induction week?

2) Im planning on buying a new laptop for myself but heard that the firm gives you one ,is that true? And can we use it for personal use or is it strictly for office use and are u allowed to take it out of the office?

3) I read on the website that you also get a free mobile phone but thats not mentioned in the contract they sent me. Is it only a free phone or also the phone contract with a specified usage ceiling?

4) Do trainees get their own business cards so that they can hand them out to clients etc

I was a SVS so I can only speak of what I picked up while I was working over the summer.

1. You'll go away to a hotel, do a load of soft skills training and exercises, and get plastered with alcohol. Then spend the rest of the week in your office doing IT training etc

2. The laptop is for work, you can take it out of the office. Don't expect to be able to install anything on it!! No MSN i'm afraid :P

3. All employees get given a mobile phone (you have a choice of about 4 or 5 handsets) the firm pays for all your business calls.

1. As Fubu said, but you will also have a group lunch with some of the partners during that week.

2. Yes, that's the official policy. Everyone who takes it home has msn though. Can use msn at home, but it's blocked from the office. Can put games on as well, but if you do add anything, make sure you don't **** it up, otherwise IT will do their best to castrate you....

Hi Guys,

I have offers for both Deloitte and KPMG and currently trying to finalise my decision, pretty sure I am going to choose deloitte. However I was wondering if you could tell me about some of their benefits they offer:

For instance what is the best/most valuable option to choose under the Options package, taking the cash? The extra holidays?

Does everyone take up the free mobile phone offer? How does it work exactly? Are you better off keeping your existing phone for personal calls?

Their website mentions corporate discounts, such as gym membership, travel, computer hardware/software - has anyone got any more details on these and whether they are any good?

Im also curious to know how the firm actually differentiates between business and personal calls...contracts usually have a flat monthly charge and u get free minutes ..so how does this really work?

I'd say cash + extra holiday is best in the Options package. Unless you need private health insurance or travel insurance or anything, I'm jammily already covered via other ways for those, but a lot of people won't be and they are useful.

Think most people take up the work phone deal, seems quite a good deal from what people have told me - cheap texts etc.
