OCR Core 1 Coordinate Geometry watch

1. I am stuck on part iv. I don't how to do it. I have checked the mark scheme and it equated the gradient of the tangent and line. Is there a reason for that?

When they have the same gradient the share the X coordinate(p).from that q can also be worked out.
I presume they used the differential of the curve and set it equal to the gradient of the line, then solved for x then subbed x into the line to get y?
