I'm doing Small Island for my AS level in English Lit and the exam is next Friday. Just wondering if anyone has any help with regards to themes, contrasts, symbolism..etc- I'd be really grateful
Thanks

Sorry you've not had any responses about this. Are you sure you’ve posted in the right place? Posting in the specific Study Help forum should help get responses.

I'm going to quote in Puddles the Monkey now so she can move your thread to the right place if it's needed. :yy:

I'm doing small island in my aqa LITB1 exam (on friday! urgh!). i hate this book with a passion, it's far too long and uninteresting. i'm doing enduring love as my other prose, and tennyson and auden for poetry. what are you doing?

Im doing English lit A2 and last year I did small island. I hated it so much I didn't read it. I only read the first bit in class. The question last year was about openings to texts. So I was elated.
It's a tedious book if you use it only for section B you should be fine however PM me and I'll send you some useful power points/notes if you'd like?

i know, we did that question for my mock, i got an A, despite not even finishing section B.
I don't think i could stand to answer a section A question on it! i'm planning on answering either tennyson or auden for the first section and the two books and remaining poet for section B.
really? thank you so much!

Well done!
I also got an A despite reading not the book but in terms of UMS it would probably be better to read the book to get as high of an A as you can. What other two texts are you doing

i've read the book twice fully, and then one skim read so far, hopefully planning to read as much of it as possible before friday.
I'm doing Auden and Tennyson for poetry and Enduring Love by Ian McEwan for my other prose

Hey do you still happen to have anything useful about small island? I am desperate for any notes on literally anything because we don't really learn stuff at school :////
