This question has probably been answered a lot, but on the C2 paper, what were the two control variables that you had to tick? Everyone I spoke to said a different answer:confused:

WHat did people get for Ethanoic acid having a higher pH than HCL?

I wrote that HCL is a strong acid so it completely ionises in an aqueous solution but Ethanoic acid is a weak acid that doesn't completely ionise.
I put that too, also I think that there's a lower concentration of H+ ions
like HCL dissociates into H+ and Cl- and the carboxylic acid into H+ and COOH

    I predict 46/60 for an A* in C2, and 44/60 for an A* in C3.
    Ok, what about an A?

I wrote something like the maximum energy increase from (making bonds- breaking bonds) has been achieved.
Yeah that's unlucky, just like I messed up in the chromosome B2 question. Energy levels were from CH3.

What a metal oxide is? I put alkali
Lead nitrate solid? I put evaporate and crystallise

I shouldn't have lost too many marks on that paper though. I think the six marker was the only question in C2 which I know for certain that I lost marks in.

Silver nitrate, sodium carbonate and it was an insoluble base
Would I only lost 3 marks for that?

    Yep thats right
    I put 'ionic compound' too.

It's AQA's fault for being rather vague this year.
