A vegan wearing a leather jacket sounds hypocritical, but do you know how and when they got it?

Could have been second hand. Could have been a gift. Or they could have had it since before they were vegan. Could any of these be possible or not? Or do you know it's a recent purchase?

Do you know it's real leather, could be fake? I know vegetarians can use animal products, but I thought it was disallowed for vegans

It could be fake leather? I have one which is, and looks quite like the real thing. I don't think anyone would notice that it isn't leather.

Bring her up on it maybe, but it could be that she's had it from before she went vegan. It can take a while to get rid of/replace all non-vegan items you own if you're not wealthy enough to be able to do it all at once.

Bring it up over a round of beef milkshakes.

    Yeah, could be.

Like Quorn looks & tastes a bit like chicken.

Actually it's a he, he's pretty thorough & been vegan for years so I'm probably jumping to conclusions.

Ah sorry, don't know why I assumed it would be a she. If he's been vegan for years then I imagine he would've had the opportunity to get another (non-leather) jacket to replace it.... so maybe it's either faux leather or he just thinks it's wrong to eat animal products, but it's okay to use other animal products?
