    I cant seem to get my head around question 11)i)b) at all, I understand everything else in the question, apart from part B. I am just unable to visualise the change in the y co-ordinates as result of doubling one of the x values. I don't quite understand what they've done in the mark scheme. Is anyone willing to explain this to me concisely, with regard to what the 2x will mean for the graph, this is last minute revision and one of the first Q's to stump me in weeks! So not the best time for this really!

    For part B), the first thing I did was to move all the numbers onto one side so I got 2x+(1/x)-4=0. Then I multiplied the entire equation through by x to get rid of the fraction part, and then equaled 2x2+1-4x=0. I then rearranged it to make 2x2-4x+1=0. Putting this through the quadratic formula gives an x value of 1±(√2)/2, which I think matches the values on the mark scheme (between 0.2 and 0.35, and 1.65 and 1.8). Is that what you wanted, or are you stuck on some other part?
