# Functions help watch

1. I've done part a but I'm stuck on part b. I've got it up to 3^x - 3 - x = 0 but don't know where to go from there or if I've done it right!

You'll have to use a numerical method of some kind. You can't solve it exactly. It looks like too much work for 2 marks though. Where is this question from?

Numerical method? It's from a past paper which my teacher put up in the school documents.

Yes, you'll have to use some iterative method like guessing a lot, or Newton-Raphson or whatever. I agree with notnek: it looks weird.

Ah this is a paper where a graphical calulator is required. So you can use it to get solutions.

Oh I completely forgot about putting the equations into the calculator, makes more sense!
