It was my 19th birthday last Thursday, and I was on a uni field trip (the trip was for ecology, at a field centre). Every year there's a mini beach party on the last night of the trip, and my birthday coincided with this year's. Late afternoon we went on an alcohol run to the supermarket, and on the evening we all sat round a fire on the beach playing drinking games and otherwise having fun, right through the night. It's a pretty unusual way to celebrate a birthday and definitely the best one I've ever had.

It got me thinking, what is the best or most memorable birthday you have ever had (or anyone you know has had)?

My 18th. Was taken to a pub where I downed a pint and munched on a packet of walkers crisps. What was most memorable about it was that turning 18 does not make you feel all grown up. A couple of years later and I'm still waiting for that feeling.

Going to Reykjavik for my 21st. It was my first time abroad and first time on a plane. It was a present from my grandparents. I spent my 21st in the Blue Lagoon drinking smoothies and cocktails and relaxing. It was amazing. Can't wait to go back next year. Will go in the winter this time, I think.
