CCEA C3- 13th May 2014

Hey, does anyone have this exam tomorrow? How do you think it'll go?
Yess any suggestions on what will come up?

Does anymore remember their answer to the fish drawing question? I didn't get any x^2 terms so I just said b=0

The question was

X=3t^2 Y=3t-t^3

Can be written as Cartesian equation

Y^2= ax^3+bx^2+cx

Find a, b and c

What were the answers for questions about the binomial and the partial fractions. They were question 4 and 3.

A was -1/2 and N was 1/2 for the binomial anyway
I didn't get any x^2 terms either
I didn't get an x^2 term either!
As for the partial fractions A was 1 B was 1 and C was -2 if I remember correctly
The partial fractions was 1/(x+2) - 2/(x+1)^2

The Cartesian equation was a = 1/27, b = -2/3 and c = 3

Yeah I got the same
What did everyone get for the differentiation?

I got b = 0, how did everyone find the binomial expansion. Didn't get any answer but wrote down an incorrect method

The binomial expansion was:

(1+ax)^n = 1+anx + (n(n-1))/2! (a^2)(x^2)

Or something along these lines I can't remember the question exactly or what each term equaled but then I just set an=(x term)
n=(x term coefficient)/a
And then worked it out I think.
I did get a=1/2 and b=-1/2

For the normal to the curve I did tangent, how many marks do you think I'll lose because of that?

I did the tangent too 😩 hoping it won't be a lot of marks!

Does anyone have an unofficial mark scheme?
The answer was (9,0) I think for the Cartesian question
