When was the last time a truly socialist party governed the United Kingdom? watch

    • Thread Starter

New labour doesn't count as socialism. Im playing devil's advocate here and id say that the last time the UK was governed by a socialist government was before Thacther's arrival in '79. Just curious as to what people think.

The fact that there hasn't been a socialist government since 1979 is a fantastic thing, btw

Never. The Attlee government did what it did by using the Anglo-American-Canadian loan and Marshal plan money.

What is a "truly socialist" political party anyway?

New Liebour was socialist at its core but cloaked its debauched intentions in the language of aspiration and support for business. They expropriated the sloganeering of the free market to disguise their despicable intentions, namely, creation of a massive welfare-dependent client state, mass immigration to "rub the right's nose in diversity", astronomical taxation, wanton spending, mindless borrowing and dumbing down of education for the sake of "equality".
Do you agree with the proposed ban on plastic straws and cotton buds?
