I think it was three marks :smile:

Hmm its strange that it was only three marks, cause there will be a mark for using sin^2=1-cos^2x, I would have thought there would have been more if you had to actually form a quadratic to find cos x! Rather than put 4cos^2x-cos x = k as I did!
Do you still need solutions or are they up? Mine are done.

[br]cosx=(1/8)±sqrt(16k+1)8[br][br]cosx=(1/8)\pm\frac{sqrt(16k+1)}{8}[br]
Answer for cosx in terms of k. You get it by completing the square.

no disputing that is right but how is getting that just 3 marks in a c2 paper, including the stuff you had to do previously as well

Based

on the comments of reputable users,
and on the polling (allowing for skew)

I am estimating
71/75 for 100 UMS
58/75 for 80UMS Grade A
51/75 for 70 UMS Grade B
Guys just wondering can we still retake modules even though A-levels are changing next year?

Yours would be much appreciated :smile:

Same :frown: now I'm expecting S1 to be hard aswell

I worked out with one of my teachers that if i get almost 100% on S1 and scrape a C today there's still a possibility of an A. So, let's hope stats goes well I don't think I can handle another bad exam.

Looking at the answers above the lowest i may have got in a worst case scenario with no method marks is 65, but given that I probably got a few method marks, id say the highest is 70.

For the factorisation question who got a = -16 and b = -32 ?

I then went on to factorise it, and even though 2x+1 was a factor I ended up getting a horrible answer.

a = -16 and b = -32
I believe this to be wrong, if you sub it back in it doesn't work for one of the equations. I got your answer first time round, but fixed it second time round. I divided my simultaneous equations and believe -48, -96 is correct.
