    So some mandems are saying that the square root of 9 is +/-3

    But i am saying square root of 9 is only 3

    But wikipedia saying dat it's +/-3

    Whats the right answer pls

    +/-3

    -3 x -3 =9
    3 x 3 = 9

    THE square root of 9 refers to the positive square root. But you can say that both 3 and -3 are square roots of 9. Things become clearer when using the symbol \sqrt which always refers to the positive square root.

    It says 9^1/2
