Best introduction to political ideology? watch

    • Thread Starter

Hi guys, I'm looking to buy a book that is a good introduction to political ideology. I know bits and pieces about politics, but I just want a firm grounding in understanding the different parties and ideologies (e.g.: socialism, liberalism, conservativism), and good books on the history of the UK would be a bonus.

(btw I'm not a politics student, and probably do not plan to take it at university level, but I'm very interested by politics, as more of a hobby)

(I hope this is the right forum)

DK politics book- fairly pricy but a really good place covering pretty much all political thought from Confuscious and Aristotle to mill and Machiavelli to Marx to modern day. Thus it covers the origins and expansions of liberalism, socialism, conservatis m,anarchism(notinmuchdetail
    ) fascism, communism.
If you know something about politics you should recognise where the parties (should) fit, although they operate in a murky world of coperate realpolitik, by reading this accessible book.
