I mean you get paid pro rata, so I'm guessing the minimum 28 days statutory paid leave is also scaled down proportionately to the length of the internship right?

    (28/52)*10=5.4

So on a 10 week internship I should expect 5 days and an afternoon off? How many weeks in advance do I have to let the bank know when I want to cash in on my holiday?

3 or 4, it's uncommon for those to be taken, I'd imagine

It's exactly 5 at both CS and JPM (specified in the contract). It doesn't say anything about notice though.

I would go as far to say it's unheard of to take vacation during an internship.

Yes, but they are still legally required to give you leave.

Bear in mind that the 8 bank holidays a year count towards the minimum entitlement of 28 days, so you might not have any flexibility regarding the August 31st bank holiday. Just in case you were planning to take 5 days straight in July or something.

I am due to start mine which is 8 weeks and i am given 4 days holiday + 1 day because 2 months are proportionally allowed a day bank holiday (even though there is no bank holiday during the internship). Im not planning on taking any leave. They will pay us for the extra 5 days if we dont take them as well.

Take your 4/5 holiday days, and you will not be getting called back. I can guarantee you.
