Yes and yes.

yes and yes for me too :smile:

I got 162/5 for the integration question
what did everyone get for the translated curve? I got x^2-x+4..?

cant remember the answer but u did y=(x-2)^2+3(x-2)+2+6 something like that expanded it out to look something like x^2 -4x +16 + 3x +6 +8
btw i cant remember it if was minus 3(x-2) or plus 3(x-2)

I got 7 - rt15, and yeah I got (-4,9)

Got 7 + rt15 but (9,-4)
Question 2 (Surd Question)

Ended up with 7 + root 15 (could of possibly been 7 - root 15, but pretty sure it was a positive)
Original post by newguy456
how about the polynomial question?
1.Sketch the graph x^2(x-3)+20
2.the remainer when x-4(divide)
3.Put it into (x+3)(x^2+bx+c)
4 P(x)=0 Find the root and give the value

for the remainder when its x-4 I think i got 36? For (x+2)(x^2+bx+c) i got b something like (x+2)(x^2+5x...) can't remember something along those lines
What I don't get is that it said the shorest route to the cord and the longest length had to be 5root2 however people get 7
?!?!

I think it was a plus, but there was definitely a 7
what was the answer to the very first question?

-3/5
wrong

Yeah more I think about it i'm pretty sure it was positive

lifes a bitch, u think we will get like working out marks? beauce the only thing wrong was putting the 2 and the 5 the wrong way round

Was it three marks? We should get get 2 I think

-3/5

THANK GOD OMG
why are some people saying the gradient was -5/3?! im panicking so much
These are the answers I remember:
q1: -3/5 for gradient
AB: -5x+3y-1=0
(9,-4)

q2: 7+ root15

q3: circle: (x+1)^2 + (y-3)^2 =50
C(-1,3)
radius: root 50, which is 5 root 2
k=8 k=-2 or something like that, I think i've remembered that wrong, so correct that
minimum length: 7

q4: dy/dx: 4x^3 - 6x or something..
the line was something like y=-10x-4
intergration: 108/5
final answer: (54-108/5) 162/5

q5: polynomials sketch curve
remainder: 36
proof p(x)=0
(x+2)((x^2-5x+10)
x^2-5x+10 has no roots (b^2-4ac < 0) so x=-2 is the only root

q6: cylinder
h=(48pi - pir^2)/2pir
prove v= that equation thing by substituting h in
dy/dx= 24pi-3pir^2/2
r=4
d^2y/dx^2=6pir
so -12pi therefore maximum

q7: (x+(3/2))^2 - 1/4
Vertex: (-3/2, -1/4)
Los: x=-3/2
translated curve: x^2-x+4

q8: rearrange to get that equation
use b^2-4ac<0 to get the second equation
-4/9<k<4
thats most of it, my memory failed at some parts so correct me if I'm wrong..

I wrote down all the answers except for the "show that" ones on my Candinate Number slip :smile:
Had very little room, so can't say which answer is which sub-question, only the numbered question.

1. Gradient = -3/5
Equation of perpendicular line: 5x-3y+1=0
Coordinate of A =(9,-4)

2. Gradient = 7+rt15

3. Tangent at A : y= -10x-4
Area under graph : 108/5
Shaded area: 270/5-108/5 = 162/5

4. Equation of circle : (x+1)^2 + (y-3)^2 =50
Centre = (-1,3)
Radius = rt50
K = (-2,8)
Shortest distance (C to QR) = 7

5. After completing the square : (x+3/2)^2 -1/4
Vertex = (-3/2, -1/4)
Line of symmetry: x=-3/2
Translated graph : y=x^2 -x+4

6. h= 24/r - r/2
dV/dt = 24pi -3pir^2/2
r=4 d*2V/dt^2 = -12pi
So a maximum value.

7. r=36
Factorised : (x+2)(x^2-5x+10)
Only root: x=-2

8. -9/4<k<4

It was 5y + 3x = c

So pretty sure the grad would be -3/5 :smile:

thank you so much!!! i'm relieved
that paper didn't go as badly as i nearly thought then :smile:
omg i missed out question eight because i thought there wa sonly 7 questions as there usually is. i feel really bad gonna have to retake the year now. can i please have some sympathy comments to make me feel better x
