Well gas chromatography is when you separate a substance through a column to find out what chemicals are present in it. It is faster more accurate and more sensitive than paper chromatography. The gas is carried through a column by an unreactive gas such as nitrogen at different speeds. The detector at the end of the column detects the retention time, which is basically how long it spends in the column - also there is a mass spectrometer which detects the Mr of substance. I think thats all you need to know- let me know if you have more question!
