I was at the shop and there's this woman that works there who's quite grumpy sometimes or maybe just grumpy to me. I went in for some cigs and she's having a discussion with another old woamn at the till having a discussion about someone and she goes - "I think he's going BACK TO THE HOMELAND" There was an emphasis on the last part and the other one looks at her with a pause and goes: "no I think he's British". Was she innuendoing me? And even if not, isn't that a really cheeky thing to say consideirng she clearly doesn't know where someone was actually born?

From Google "an allusive or oblique remark or hint, typically a suggestive or disparaging one."

Yes: was she suggesting what she said during the conversation, toward me too, I asked.

I thought innuendo meant "Suggestive" in a sexual manner....

Not necessarily, no. Unless someone can find an alternative definition that can prove this wrong?

In general terms it is the only context I have ever heard it in.
