Hello everyone;

I need some help on how some parts of the GCSE system works.

My first question is, are there any GCSEs that can be done before May/June? I mean doing GCSEs in November or March or something. I know that since it's all linear now, only resits are allowed in November, but are there any exceptions? Maybe iGCSEs? I would like to horde up my As and A*s by doing more GCSEs, but I do not want more stress in Summer term. Most things of equivalent worth to GCSEs, if they would be counted by sixth forms, would also be helpful. It can be really any subject, other than foreign languages.

Another question I have is a lot more specific. My exam board for science is Edexcel, and I want to have Core Science, Additional Science and the Physics GCSE. I am currently in YR10 and am sitting my Core. Next year, I plan to do C2, B2 and P2 for my Additional Science. I have already done my Core Science Controlled Assessment, and it was a physics one. To get my Physics GCSE, /do I need to redo P1, P2, and a controlled assessment, with P3, or will P3 suffice by itself.

Thank You

we did the separate gcse's and only had to do a controlled assessment for our cores e.g. one biology CA for B1, one chemistry CA for C1 and one physics CA for P1 but i think it depends on your school, however one of my friends was retaking so she had to do her controlled assessment again but as she was in additional she only had to do one.

Thanks for reply.

So that means that I won't have to do another controlled assessment, yay!
My school is pretty relaxed and would definitely do what is easiest
