I do a different exam board but for my Lord of the flies 20 marker my introduction just outlined the question and I said how the character was portrayed throughout the novel (in both a positive and negative light) and I mentioned how they contrast with others (which doesn't have to be mentioned), my intro was only 6 lines and my handwriting is quite big, overall I got 18/20 but I didn't manage to finish

well at my school we've been taught:

    intro
    4-6 paragraphs
    conclusion

in the paragraphs themselves we do a technique called lovely teapots! it's basically language technique, quote, explanation, compare or contrast to another language technique then quote, and another explanation of that quote. then at the end of the paragraph you 'reflect' (provide some link between paragraph and introductory hypothesis)
hope that helped, good luck!! i'm doing edexcel on monday and i'm so scared!
