Hmmm, which college did you apply to? I think it's mainly the hardcore academic colleges like Christ's which give scary offers like that O_O.

Personally, I'd be chuffed with any offer hehehe...

wth was i thinking.

I might be a bit late but what is the theory behind the countdown cos i keep reading 3 days or 4 days on posts 4 days old so im not sure :s-smilie:
Is it that the letters are sent on Jan 2nd and then we wait a day or two depending on Royal bleeding Mail till we get the reply??
Or that we get the letters tomorrow, The colleges haveing sent them on Saturday??? cos then they would get to us tomorrow right??
SO ye if someone could clarify that it'd be great

LOL - if your signature changes it changes on all of your existing posts, stop freaking. :p:

EDIT: Oh and yes, the posting date is 2nd Jan, but who knows if any colleges will have broken the rule...

You mentioned the countdown things saying 3 or 4 days on old posts - it doesn't matter how old a post is, it'll have your current signature on it. So it's irrelevant how old a post is if you're looking at the countdown thing in the sig.

EDIT: Ah, or maybe you weren't talking about the signatures after all. My bad. I should really stop doing this.

Guys, the letter should come promptly tomorrow! But since I live overseas and I don't want my Housemaster to break the good/bad news to everyone (literally>) before I get back to school, I AM emailing them tomorrow morning!

Call me impatient but despite what u guys said, I just couldn't resist to know the answer!

I think it has been worth it applying because, in some senses, it's given me more confidence in my abilities (which may be shot to pieces later this week but, regardless of the outcome, I doubt Cambridge's decision could take away that).

A year or two ago, I might've been too nervous to hold my own in a conversation with a few incredibly smart academics; this year (well, it's last year now!) I managed it. I'm not saying I managed it well but I got through the interview and even managed to smile at the end. That's an achievement for me. Being considered by Cambridge and not being laughed at for my application is another big thing too.

I'm starting to feel irritated by the OMG!111 LETTERS WILL COME TOMORROW!11 business. :p: It's a good thing I'm retiring from TSR after today until my letter has arrived.

Good luck. I could try doing that, but I know for sure that I wouldn't succeed. I wish I never discovered this website - it's too addictive - and I have done literally only an hours revision over the whole of the Christmas holiday for my January modules!

I'm in the same boat as you.

It's only two or three days; it's completely manageable.

Thanks Ronove! I actually got confused by lookin at earlier threads....
Oh well, I am goin to email them 2morrow still and if that's a pending rejection then it is!

Unless, my email pissed them off and they have decided to reject me due to my impatience! LOL

All decisions have already been decided upon so your e-mail won't result in a rejection.

If you are going to e-mail, I hope you're an international applicant. :p: If you're not, you might want to consider waiting the extra day. (I think I just like letters though... When it's on a piece of paper in your hands, it seems more real too.)

Edit Sorry, I scrolled up and noticed you said you're from overseas. If you don't mind me asking you, where are you from? (I'm curious now!)
Cambridge wouldve made me more confident in my abilities if they didn't interview all most everyone that applied..at least with oxford they only interview the top 16.

Same here.

I can now feel the nerves begin to fade away to a feeling of inevitability, it always happens. If all goes according to how it's gone for others, then I won't be at all nervous when I actually open my letter.
