    according to the markscheme for question 7bi, the current across the resistor is 1.3A but im not sure how to get to that?
    can someone please explain it :3

    You should be saying 'current through' a component - current is a flow.

    the current through Y plus the current through W and X must be equal to 2A

    since all resistors have the same resistance, the current flowing through the series resistors W and X must be half the current flowing through Y... the ratio of the current is 2 to 1

    so you need to divide the total current (2A) by 3 and multiply by 2 to get the current through Y
