I want to become a primary school teacher and am considering A Level English lit, sociology and art and design.... any advice? suggestions? Also, once I finish college, I wanted to go straight onto a teaching degree at uni... do you think I will be better off doing a subject degree and then a PGCE or do you think I should just go straight into the teaching degree at uni? Any advice is appreciated

When I first started sixth form, I wanted to go into primary teaching (now I don't really know), so when I was choosing my options, my head of year said to me to pick A-Levels that I will enjoy doing and its probably a good idea to do a core subject too, e.g, English. I'm doing maths, biology, geography and textiles. And then she also said if I decide to go to Uni it may be best to do a degree in a subject that I love and then a PGCE as you can only do teaching with a teaching degree and in most jobs, employers just like you to have a degree of some sort anyway. But of course, whatever decision you make will get you to primary school teaching I'm sure. Hope this may have helped you a little bit!

As long as you hope to teach in one of the subjects you picked, then your A levels are fine. I would say if you know that you do want to be a teacher then its better to do the undergraduate in teaching than taking the long way round of doing a degree first then a PGCE
