    Hi TSR,

Question regarding the corporate finance practices in the Big 4.

If you apply to an IB you can be placed / select a product group (M&A, Lev Fin etc.), geographical coverage (Nordic, CEEMA etc.) or industry coverage (TMT, Consumer & Retail etc.), all of course dependent on how the bank is organised, but you get the point.

If, as a graduate, you apply to the corporate finance division of the Big 4 my understanding is that there are different "products" or teams (restructuring, lead advisory ((basically SME M&A)), valuations etc.). However what I couldn't work out is the underlying organisation of these teams. For example, as a graduate in the lead advisory team will you be placed into specific industry coverage, or, are you a generalist for all advisory transactions that come through the door?

I ask because I am interested in TMT and Cons, but have 0 interest in working on utilities, healthcare etc deals.
