I decided to help those of you taking the literary texts exam on Monday 18th May.
If this post becomes popular I will certainly take the revision experience further.
Firstly lets look at An Inspector Calls, context is definitely key in understanding all portrayals through the Play

Hi,
I'm doing an inspector calls but I learnt it early year 10, I don't have the book or any revision material for it. Would you be able to give me a plot summery as I'm getting nervous for the exam... I don't know much about it!!

Context:
Sure, The Play is set in 1912 however written in 1945.
Priestly deliberately sets his Play during this era as the date represented a time very different from the time he was writing in, this being because of the War which breaches gender and class divisions. Priestly wanted for us to to make the most out of this new found opportunity, the Play encourages people to build a better society.
As for plot, I recommend using spark notes.
