How could I structure an essay questions such as:
    - In what ways is Jem a significant character in the novel?
    - Explore the significance of prejudice in the novel.

-Why is Boo Radley significant in the novel?

Well I always start with context like the year the book was published, the author, what happened around that time, eg the great depression and the racism in the southern states of America if that helps at all.

I tend to do theme questions not characters, so with that prejudice one you can talk about class prejudice against the cunninghams (aunt Alexandre calls the white trash), the racism again tom Robinson, religious prejudice against miss maudie (when they say her and her flowers will go to hell), the prejudice against Boo how people think he is scary and possibly how atticus is fighting against prejudice and racism.

I'd finish that with saying Lee could be saying attitudes towards people must change for prejudice to be stopped.

I'm not sure if that helped but I hope it did a little
