AQA English Literature GCSE - Answer length?

This is for both OMAM and AIC , as well as Poetry Conflict cluster on Friday.

How long should the answers be? I know that I have to spend 45 minutes on each section, but how many paragraphs are we aiming for?

E.g. For OMAM extract I've written 3 paragraphs and for context I wrote 2 paragraphs, no intro or conclusion, and the teacher managed to mark it as 26/34. This is approx 2 A4 sides. Is it enough for the higher marks?

I wrote an OMAM essay for my coursework, and it was around 3 or 4 pages long and A*- as were most others'. It really depends though, because I like to ramble a lot. What are you aiming for?
2-3 pages in 45 mins for all of mice and men (section a + b)
Can anyone help me? I feel really under prepared.. I know all the stuff and context - it's just answering the question! And how do i properly analyse the passage they give me? I honestly feel like my teacher hasn't helped me with anything... :frown: :frown:
I do around 2-3 pages for each section. Usually get B-A

Write multiple interpretations for one quotation. Read a quotation and ask yourself what messages is the author conveying to you and what issues did it address during the time of the Novel... if all else fails make sure you just write Something (Anything, as long as it links slightly to the quotation) about the authors message.
im so scared
were doing TKAM
i have NO IDEA how to answer the text analysis question
HELP ??

You need to remember to write about social historical context. For omam it's to do with the Great Depression, migrant workers, racism, sexism and the American Dream. For aic it's capitalism vs. socialism, class divide etc. To save time use smaller integrated quotes rather than long ones and remember to do language analysis; why has the author used a particular technique there. Also in aic, remember to refer to 'the audience' rather than 'the reader' as you need to show your understanding that it is a play.... I'm stressed myself but as long as you put the content in, you'll be fine 😄
