the worst that will probably happen is some mild irritation, just stick to the guidelines or ya deserve whatever you get :p:

Never heard of these?

What's the official name for them? Surely not 'Brightening eye drops'?

Reply 3

Yup - can get them from Boots. 2 drops in each eye. I got a voucher on my Advantage Card for 200 points when buying them so they only cost 79p. My boyfriend has used them, don't know how much they helped him ... perhaps if he posted here...

Here they are.

wow that sounds kwl. will i get a sparkle in my eye? if i use it?

Yeah they're great. I use the Optrex ones, they're about £3. I have really sensitive eyes and they always look bloodshot, but since I've been using these drops they are really clear and feel much better.

I just hope I haven't been using them too much... :teeth:

They basically work by constricting the blood vessels in your eye, making the white bit look whiter - this is also helped by a kind of biological bleach. So essentially you're cutting off the blood supply to your eye which can mean that crappy stuff (which can make your eyes red in the first place) can't get cleared out. Therefore the more you use them the more you need to use them. It's not like all your skin will fall off if you use them too much but it's recommended to only use them on special occasions, or at best just first thing in the morning before you go out. Certainly don't use them unnecessarily, like before you go to bed when noone will see how beautiful and sparkly your eyes look! Also tip for the top...if you ever randomly get blood on your carpet it will get it out like magic. Not that I make a habit of doing stuff like that

lmao thats gross...
how on earth would u know abt it being a blood remover?

Reply 9

Do not use more than 4 times in 24 hours. Should not be used everyday. Only for use in the eyes. Do not use whilst or just before wearing soft contact lenses. Stop using and talk to your pharmacist or doctor if you experience eye pain, changes in vision or continued redness of the eyes.

Reply 10

If you use whitening eye drops too often the whitening effects lasts less time and then the redness afterwards can get worse.

Oh and bader, just typing out what is written on the back of a packet is probably not giving the OP any new information.

This bloke in school used to use this stuff (he fooled around with drugs) and if Jennybean is right about the bleach stuff then maybe its why he kept getting eye infections

I can't remember how I got the idea to put it on the blood I got on the carpet (would like to add I was not engaging in some frantic self harming session, I think I nicked myself shaving my legs) but I just remember it worked like a charm. Anyway, OP I forgot to add that I think a drop of very cold water will do the job just as well without putting a load of chemicals into your eyes. You can also try pressing gently all round your eye, basically tracing the bone you can feel at the edge of your eye socket, cos this will stimulate lymph drainage.

my doc said not to use it that much just drink water

NB: i know drinking water does Not have nothing to do with your eyes
But you never know it may help

The product works by shrinking the blood vessels of the eye, thus removing oxygen and nutrients refreshing the eye.
I used eye dew for years, without knowing what I was doing to my eyes. I now have blind spots from degenerative tissue and my eyesight is quite badly effected. Short term and occasional use probably would have been fine, but I bitterly regret my prolonged use of eye dew.

Hi Jennie - I've read your post with interest as I too have used Eye Dew for years (I would say over used). And what's happening now is that my left eye is still red, even after using them. I know my eye sight is OK as recently had them checked. But what I'm afraid of is that my eyes will never be white again - have I caused permanent damage to my eyes? Any suggestions please.

Reply 16

Hi Jenny I also used them for years too and have same as you never really putting it down to eye dew until this week when I used them again for a couple of days and on the next day I had a massive burst blood vessel in the corner of my eye!! I went to the opticians and he said that they can make the eye build pressure on using frequently. Has said that maybe just to use on a special occasions.

I am 65 and used these most days for about 30 years or more. They almost instantly make your eye whites clear and bright. Especially handy the morning after drinking to much or late night gets rid of bloodshot eyes. I love them lol x

i use everyday for over a year easy .. never had eye infections and i always get told i have gorgeous eyes lmao .. maybe thats my baby blues 😁

I think its because your more likely to have blood shot eyes if you’re dehydrated
