Equation of a circle

Hey,
I'm really confused as to what a "equation of a circle" question would look like on an M1 paper. On the spec it's also referred to as the "cartesian equation"???
(x-a)^2 + (y-b)^2 = r^2

^ when (a, b) is the center and r is the radius of the circle

Cool thanks ... The spec also says "link to trigonometric functions"?
