LOL I didn't literally mean that I would do that! :p: I was just commenting that people who have a gap year are more likely to get the more oversubscribed accommodation. I wouldn't want a gap year - I'm desperate to get to uni as soon as possible!

Basically...yes taking a gap year does put you in a better place for applying for accomodation. So does being an international student, and applying earlier (usually!) however dont get your heart set on it, loads of people get put in westwood instead.

Reply 42

Yeah, and there is nothing wrong with westwood!!

Reply 43

Yes there is :P

Reply 44

How dare you!? :p:
I like my pod very much:smile:

Yup, as soon as I had applied for Solsbury I regretted it and wished I had applied to westwood. Luckily I was stuck in there anyway lol

Reply 46

True.. you westwoodians have £12 more a week to spend on food & drink etc.. probably money better spend than on a full en-suite, I don't feel my bathroom is worth £88 a week! :p:

Reply 47

Sarah how can you say that! I'm well attached to my bathroom now... Plus its fantastic when I'm feeling a little "squiffy" after all those drinks that you and Tracy keep forcing on me! :s-smilie:

Reply 48

bad news is that that bathroom has gone up to just over a £100 a week!!!

Reply 49

When should me make applications for the accommodation?

Reply 50

The website says the 11th of June, for new undergraduates. Postgraduates can apply now, but I imagine that isn't you.

How do you guys find this sort of thing out? The accommodation section of the Bath website seems to have only last year's prices (£95/week for Marl/Sols for example)
It also has nothing at all on the new Woodland Court - is that even finished?

From the other thread on Bath accommodation - this link has the prices (thus far, subject to change) for 2008-9. The site does have some information on Woodland Court - you've seen that, right?

Reply 53

Ahh, thank you, I had missed those links!

No worries.

Reply 55

Oh bummer - I dunno if I can afford this whole business now ;(

100 quid a week is a bit of a killer for en-suite. I think i'm going to pull an all nighter on the eve of accomodation booking day so i can book first

ha ha, your going to bath too. Great minds think alike :p:

Anyways, back on topic. Still thinking of the pod en suites. Doesn't seem bad for £78. Anyone have any experience with them? (good or bad). Can't really afford £100 a week for ensuite, but don't really want a shared bathroom either lol.

Lol, that's intense. Pull an all nighter with me and we'll book accomodation at 1 minute past midnight together :p:. 100 quid a week is pretty damn expensive, but i'll get a job and sell all my crap over summer to pay for the first semester - might be in trouble for the second
