Sorry i'm a little drunk (got bored programming), but pods are great! You can have fun little games like 'how many people can you fit in a pod' and then turn the shower on... If they leak they normally fix it really really soon too so don't worry...

Reply 61

So the pods will be staying in westwood now?

100 quid a week is a bit of a killer for en-suite. I think i'm going to pull an all nighter on the eve of accomodation booking day so i can book first

I don't think that will be necessary - word has it that applications open at 10am. That won't stop me being there an hour early, refreshing every 3 seconds!

Reply 63

And what's the difference between "ensuit pod" and "enhanced standard". What does the enhanced mean or more literally - for what shall I pay 11,5 pounds more?

Reply 64

At the moment there are about 5 blocks with pods but next year there will only be 2, so they are still avaliable.

An ensuite pod has a pod with a shower etc in it. The ensuite standard rooms share showers but are refurbished and are really nice. I think they may come with free freewire tv too but I'm not sure.

Last year the application started at 10am but some in my block applied within minutes for solsbury and didnt get it.

While I'm here Brendon court is the best place to live. I love it and really don't want to have to leave in 5 weeks!

Reply 65

So, crazyemma, What's so great about Brendon? I'm thinking of applying there, but also considering Eastwood 1-19.

Reply 66

I'm also thinking of the pods, although i am easy and will settle for eastwood or brendon too.

Brendon Court
There are up to 13 people sharing one kitchen which means you get to know loads of people really well. The kitchens are quite big although there is only one cooker and hob but we don't tend to get many problems as most people cook at different times.
It was refurbished last summer so all the rooms are nice and new. There are sinks in all the rooms but showers etc are shared there are three showers and two toilets between 13 but I've never had to wait for either. The building is a wierd shape which means there is a kind of court yard outside and at the moment there is a guy playing his guitar out there. It is quite central on campus so most lecture building are nearby, unless your department is in the south building which mine is you wont have to walk far. The one bad point is some of the rooms are smaller than others but none of us have any issues with it they are large enough for all your needs.

I can post up some pictures of the kitchen (though it currently needs cleaning) and the rooms if you want.

Pictures pleaseee!xx

Some pictures of my room. The kitchen is currently full of people because we are going out in a bit so I'll take some tomorrow.

Hello  God, everyone is so friendly here  I missed TSR. Some familiar names too - SarahB and Elondra?

I was forced into a double Gap year which turned out brilliant by the way, look forward to coming to Bath this October (at last!!). Lucky me if Gap year students are offered Sols/Marl as this is where I want to live! Applied for Eastwood last year but withdrew as didn't come up with the money, and want to upgrade my preference this year :p: What, I've been working for over a year, I can treat myself to a little ensuit

Look forward to seeing you in Bath! :tsr2:

cRaig, SarahB_, recneps, pezkingrich & crazyemma: do you mind if I post some of your photos onto the newly-updated Bath Accommodation page on the wiki?

And anyone else with photos around campus: The Wiki Needs YOU.

Please would you be kind enoug to share your wisdom :p:

In each of the non ensuite blocks, how do the bathroom arrangements work - and before you stop reading this boring and stupid faq, that's not what I mean!!

What I mean is are toilets separate to showers, are the showers together in a room, or are there separate bathrooms (toilet+shower), also are the sinks in there too (even if own sink is provided in the room).

Many many thanks

In my block, the toilets and showers are separate. Each toilet is a little room with a sink as well, although we also have sinks in our rooms, and the showers are all in separate rooms. I think its the same for other blocks but I'm not sure.

I doubt there's a communal shower arrangement, especially considering there is plenty of mixed-sex accommodation?

I would assume the toilets have sinks, and that showers are seperate to toilets, so they can both be used at once.

Hey guys bath is my firm choice and as accomadation application is in a couple of days I thought I would have a look on here.

Hello everyone!

Is there anybody who lives in Polden Court? Because I have accepted the offer of Bath and I applied for accommodation. I chose Polden because I will be a postgraduate student and I prefer a more quiet place. If there are some pics available...

Thanks!
