Hi,
I'm currently in Yr11, and my current A- Level choices are:
Maths,
Economics
Geography
Computer Science

But I'm thinking of doing:
Maths
Further Maths
Economics
Geography

I want to study economics in a top 10 university (aiming for Durham), but I haven't taken further maths for GCSE, and my school have advised against taking further maths for A -Level. I willing to work over the summer holidays, and I am predicted a high A* in GCSE maths.
Would not taking Further Maths affects my chances of getting into a good uni?
And is Further Maths really hard, or is it mainly logic?

tbh I don't think further maths is worth it - depending on what board you do, it's like 5 exams, and tonnes more work. Unless you actually want to pursue a career directly related to maths, then I don't think it's worth it.
A good grade in maths is far better than an average/bad grade in further maths

I think you should do it, If you're aiming for Durham then you're obviously a high grade student, I cant speak for other examination boards but I personally found further maths easier for me doing MEI, I guess I personally deal better with knowing a lot about a few complex subjects than knowing a little about lots of spread areas (as Maths on its own seems to lean towards)
if you've got the hours to spare I'd do it.
